As an outsider, the Rails exploits sounded very silly. (Abusing a general-purpose-deserializing YAML parser to parse JSON? What the hell...)

@ThiefMaster AFAIK (which is not very far), they had exploits in both their JSON and XML parsers. You were allowed to embed YAML which was deserialized with their souped-up YAML parser which can deserialize arbitrary object and was unsafe. JSON and XML were supposed to be safe, but because they were able to invoke the YAML parser they became unsafe and were exploited.

and IIRC they were also using their YAML parser to parse JSON, after running it through a filter or something. Which seemed very weird. (I may just be ignorantly slandering them, though, because I'm talking about stuff I know very little about.)

It looks potentially awesome. Lots of nice ideas, at least. (Though that was true of Google Wave.) Will need to use it a bit to see how it actually works out.

What the heck: I tried beta.discourse.org one minute ago and it appeared to have the same thread list as meta., but the images were all broken. I reload now and it tells me "not found".

They're probably changing stuff rather quickly today, but that still seems weird.

AH! You can enter arbitrary subdomains. They'll load the first time, and cause an error on subsequent requests.

It seems to fail if you have a session cookie set. (It's HttpOnly, you won't see it in document.cookie.)
