this says it depends on the optimus (; And I guess at one point I did say it was acting like the 2nd scenario there because as soon as I enable a 3rd monitor, it turns off one of the 2 I had on and tells me it only supports 2. I just figured it was a driver issue, not a you-don't-have-this-you-dummy

I did look in there, but it's all greek to me except what I listed ^^^

You can browse to the driver directly, but the driver mentions that it doesn't support chipsets installed in machines that have switchable graphics, which hers does.

@RebeccaChernoff Yeah, no. :P It's possible that it's not an actual issue, just that the Intel graphics are monitor-blocking you. You could see what happens if you go into BIOS and set it to discrete graphics specifically, admittedly I'm just grasping at straws though.

I'll recommend you the same advice as Paul Thurrott gave on Windows Weekly: If you tell them to buy a mac you're going to be doing all the tech support. If you tell them to get a Windows PC, then as each successive version of Windows comes out you can say "gee, it's been x years since I used Windows ... I pretty much only have a Mac, I don't know how to fix those problems anymore, things change" ... and then you aren't the one they always turn to.

However, if you like doing free tech support, then you should definitely tell everyone you know to get a Mac and to burninate all windows PCs
