I don't know if this should be changed or not, but personally I always get confused by this: I think it's indicating that I'm currently on meta so I click on the icon (expecting it to bring up a list of sites? I don't know why.) and end up putting myself on meta.

IIRC there used to be a visible icon indicating the currently selected site, so I may have a habit of looking at that.
